This photo dates from between 1928 to 1939 but we assume it was around 1933. Measurements: 11 x 9 1/2. Red Horner Defenseman Born: 5/28/1909 Died: 4/27/2005 Played for Toronto Maple Leafs: 192829 to 193940 Red Horner was the most physical defenseman of his time. He led the NHL in penalty minutes eight years in a row and was one of the most disliked players in hockey. However, the Maple Leafs often said that Horner was their most team-oriented player. Besides his hard body checks, he was known for one unusual skillhe could accelerate from a standstill to full speed faster than almost anyone in the game.
